Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement say they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Officers then found multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no indication as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the occurrence," they stated.

Local authorities said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a shooter aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
